About
Robin Goldberg was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. An avid reader, Goldberg always enjoyed creative writing and was inspired by her father, Bernard Bing Abramovitz, who provided valuable support and guidance in her life and career. In an interview, Goldberg said, I was fortunate enough to experience a powerful and dynamic father-daughter relationship which made me the person I am today.
Goldberg received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, where she also represented the university in varsity sports, playing first string tennis. During a summer program at Cornell University, Goldberg studied creative writing, psychology and sociology and began to write extensively.
Goldberg also attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, and upon graduation, was accepted into the Executive Training Program at Bloomingdales.
Bing's Place is Goldbergs first commercial project. Her inspiration for the story is based upon her experiences living and working in New York, and its international mosaic of people and cultures. She found the social environment in the citys coffee houses to be fascinating, and observed how strangers would become acquaintances, and acquaintances would develop into close friendships, as they would sit and talk about their families, lives and jobs, as well as their triumphs, dreams, aspirations and everyday struggles.
Goldberg lives in New York City with her husband, Dr. Steven Goldberg, and her three children; Andrew, Michael and Jeffrey.
